Hi everyone!
My name is Narlu, and I’m Newmarket State School’s newest member!
I’m a tawny frogmouth owl – whooo-hooo! – and I love spending time in the nearby Bank Street Reserve. From now on, I’ll also be flying around your school as the brand-new mascot. You may spot me popping up in lots of exciting places around the school.
I’m especially here to give a big, warm welcome to our new Prep students as they begin their learning journey. I’ll be joining my bird friends – the sport house mascots Egret, Jabiru and Brolga – to cheer everyone on. Together, we’ll help celebrate our school spirit.
Did you know that having friendly mascots is proven to make school life even better?
Mascots help:
Create a sense of belonging – everyone feels part of the team.
Build school pride – they remind us of what makes our community special.
Encourage positive behaviour – by setting an example of kindness, respect, and responsibility.
My name, Narlu, was chosen by our wonderful Student Council, and I think it suits me perfectly – thank you, everyone!
As your mascot, I’m here to help spread our Work to Win ethos and show everyone how to be kind, responsible and respectful, just like our school rules guide us to be.
I can’t wait to meet you all and help make school a place where we learn, grow, and soar together.
With a flap and a whooo-hooo,
Your friend, Narlu 🦉
